Sparham Hall - R. Wensum Lyng |
|
Upstream of the millpools at Lyng, this slower and deeper 1 ½ mile stretch of river offers a challenge to specimen hunters.
Set in the open flood meadows of the Wensum valley this part of the river is plain to the eye, but capable of producing some excellent fishing containing large bream known to exceed 11 lbs in weight, chub running to over 6.8 lbs, roach to above 2 lbs, and pike to over 20lbs pike and the odd big perch
Comparatively under fished, this fishery has a small waiting list in force, the fishery will be included in the first stages of the River Wensum Restoration Stratergy which as part of a partnership with NACA, the Environment agency, and Natural England will be part of NACA’s next ambitious river habitat restoration project with a view to restoring it as a roach fishery. |
