What can only be described as a fantastic start to the season at Bawburgh lakes has got the members on the banks of the fishery in numbers.
The carp fishing this spring has been the best for many years with anglers sometimes taking several fish a session. 'kens' fish has obliged on two occasions the latest at 39.14, with several other thirties notably 'Apple Slice' at 35.00 last weekend. The number of thirty pound plus fish captured this spring has surpassed all other seasons with several fish being caught at these weights for the first time, showing that the fishery is in form and benefits from the low density stocking program employed by the management team. Not to miss out on the action the tench fishing although some what patchy sDarrynthyStolwo far has produced some huge fish, notably a 11.02 on saturday part of a three fish catch one of the others going 9.07. |

This section will eventually provide current news about the Bawburgh fishery, events activities and any item that is newsworthy, such as what is being caught, any seasonal events or perhaps closures due to seasonal conditions etc. The season is well underway with some excellent catches from the fishery. With the warm April weather the carp are responding well and reports of 'Kens' fish being caught has brought many of the regulars to Colney 1 , and along with 'Apple Slice' caught at 37lb, this season has started early at the fishery. Reports of a 39lb fish from Colney 2 and fish to 29lb from Lodge Farm Lake have again shown the great potential of this fishery. The Incredible Tench these waters have to offer have just started to show with fish to over 8lb being reported however it is widely expected that new fishery records will be caught this season such is the huge potential and the growth rates of these fish at this time.
